CNY: Guan Tiong Open House

ok. FINALLY I got back a few out of many photos I took at Guan Tiong's open house. His house is located at Bukit Segar. damn nice lor. with super fresh air somemore because it was on the hill. Free from air pollution.

There were many many many people at his house. Besides the basic catering food, his dad called a char kuey teow man and lok lok lorry there. Then after all the makan-makan, we gambled and his gf brought out a cake and we had an early birthday celebration for him. Done with my story. kthxbai. Photo now. =P

CNY: Raymond's House

ok la. I've been lazy to update my blog although I've gotten back some of the photos which were gone.

Anyway, we went to Raymond's house for visiting as usual every year eversince he moved to Cheras which is very very far away from us. Thus, we visit his house once a year only and do the same thing every year. Sing k, gamble and makan dinner.

This year, the only diference is that Li Lian brought Karl Son along. =P

CNY part 2

yes.... this is a very delayed post due to various reasons. School just started and gotta settle a lot of stuff. Also, my computer broke down for whatever reasons which I don't know why. And the worse thing is I did not back up the photos I took during CNY. However, I did send SOME of them to some friends so I managed to get back some of the photos.

After visiting 6th Granduncle, we all went to 5th Granduncle's place and as usual, the kids will be playing around in the garden and I took some photos of them at the garden.

They were posing for one of my uncles who own D60 and I just snap from this angle.

Chinese New Year - Part 1

How's your Chinese New Year people? Collected many many ang paus?

I was at Malacca from the eve up to the 3rd day of CNY and gone for open house and gambling sessions once I was back here at KL. It was a whole busy 15 days of CNY and my luck was not really good. You get what I mean. =P

On the eve, as usual, our family will have reunion dinner at home by having steamboat.

We had 2 tables of this. One for the adults and the other for the kids.

Oh. I was busy playing mahjong with my fellow cousins so was lazy to take photos of the offerings and stuff my Grandmother prepared for the prayer. Hmm... what a waste.

Anyway, on the first day of CNY, it was the usual house hopping visiting between families.

When we arrived at my Granduncle ke-enam punya house, my fellow cousins will sure head towards his swing there and play after wishing and collecting ang paus.

Hmm.. yes. I've abandoned the blog for a week or so. anyway, I attended a car photography workshop by Darren 2 months ago. It was for the beginner so we basically learned a little of the composition. We were supposed to shoot a Renault sports car which I have forgotten the model but the person who test drive did not come back on time so in the end we shot Darren's car. Photos as below.

Happy 2009 people ! yes. Time flies and we're getting older. I have one more year of degree before I join the workforce and see the real world. So, I have to make use of this one more year wisely and enjoy. haha.

Well, yesterday went to the curve for the countdown celebration with my friends and had dinner and tony roma's which is not worth the money. They only have sets for the night. dang.. After the dinner, we joined the crowd to play the spraying snow thing. I don't know what the heck is in the spraying thing which makes most of us feel like coughing. Last time dun have one lor. Must be china products. LOL. so yeah, that's how I countdown. again. haha.

Post Exam

Say yay for exam to be over. 1 more year of degree and I will graduate. w00t ! tahan. anyway, after exam, went for lunch with some coursemates and then off to gardens for karaoke. On that night itself, had to go to KLIA to pick up my family who is back from Nepal. So basically, get to start to enjoy the next day onwards.

Went to Luna Bar on friday night, it was not the right time for us to be there la I guess. quite sien. It's a good place for a big bunch of friends to be there drink and chit chat.

Next day, we had a plan to overnight at choo yang's empty condo in Cap Square and so happen there was a rave party just below his building and since we have free entry so why not go in look look see see..

Finally exam is over and family is back from Nepal as well, I believe it must be a wonderful place to be and to take photos around just by looking at the photos they took with a digital camera borrowed from my Grandpa.

Few weeks back, my family and part of the chin family went to Cameron Highland with some of our Buddhist Centre members who were part of the team in the Thousand Offerings event. Might post some of the photos I took there when I am free.

Anyway, first day there was raining the whole day so we just stayed in the apartment and went out for steamboat for our dinner. How nice ! The weather that night was super duper cold. We only went for visiting and walking around the next day.

The first stop was one of the strawberry farms there. They have flowers there as well ! But this post I will post more human photos first la. =P

Similarly with Ewin, I just had my bad present. Dang... For me, I just had a cut on my head. Fortunately, it was not that serious so I need not go to clinic for sewing/stitching or whatever you call it. Also, the scar can be covered by my hair. Thank God....

Anyway, this morning had a mini blowing cake celebration with a few closer coursemates as everyone was busy doing the finalizing of assignment. Same to us. It was a day with rush and stress.. One more asssignment to go on Monday and that's all. =D.

Went in to one small vacant class to blow the cake because I did not want to do it so publicly. pai seh mah. =P

It's pretty funny to see the life of the dragon fly. After it landed, it will slowly drop its wing then after it fully drop, the dragon fly will fly somwhere else and then come back to the same spot. haha

Lesson learned...

This post will not have any photos haha. I just feel like writing out something I learned while doing my management accounting assignment.

I had this really really confusing question for my assignment and my mistake was that I reread over and over again on the same old paragraph which does not answer my question for the past 1 week. Then I decided to look for some help from my aunt and my mother's friend and my mother's friend somehow answered my question which makes a lot more sense than my previous doubts.

Guess what was the mistake?

It's because I reread over and over again the same old paragraph and totally abandon something which is important in the beginning of the case study.. Thank god I still have time to complete my assignment and I am quite relieved at the moment until some other coursemates bring more doubt ( I hope not.. =P)

So... My first lesson learned throughout this semester: There's always a reason for every single word in it.

Convention Day 3

Yesterday I went for deeparaya celebration for the first time.. Deepavali open house in the afternoon and raya open house at night. hehe.

anyway let's continue with the day 3 convention. my group along with other groups had our session in the ballroom on the 3rd day..

we had talks on fashion photography by Mr Mark Law, wedding photography in Malaysia by Mr Grant Corban, Architecture photography and life experience of a working photographer by Mr. Azrul K. Abdullah.

Besides that, I took a lot of photos of Ms. Monique haha. reallly many... Will post those photos in the next post. Also, we had a better lunch compared to the previous two days. The lunch buffet consist of various kinds of food.

After all the talks and stuff we then had the closing ceremony whereby the prizes were presented.

Convention Day 2

It's the day scheduled with talks by various photographers of different specialty/professionality or whatever you call it such as Ted Adnan on portraiture, Darren Chang on automative and Mr. Choen Lee on creativity sort of things and also talks by adobe and epson mainly on their products. Basically that's what my group had for Day 2.

Sony Alpha Convention 2008

Day 1

The convention organized by Sony Alpha was great. Learned really a lot of things as a beginner and glad to be 1 out of the 400 participants there. We had lunch at the middle east restaurant there before the opening ceremony of the convention and some model shooting with Ducati and Harley Davidson bikes.

There was a PS3 there also with the game called Afrika. It's a mission game thing where you have to capture images of animals.

The convention then started at about 3pm..

Then, the A900 was launched.

He was holding the Alpha stickers and those who collected it will win prize and the one who collected the most won an A900 !

After 2 hours of everything in the ballroom, I continued shooting the models. =P

Sushi King RM2 Bonanza

Yesterday after class at 10am, we had our usual break for few hours and we went to Soho KL for sushi as they have their membership promo again. The shop has not opened when we went there so we berlepak outside and had some drinks in a kopitiam nearby. Soho looks like a nice place to hang out at night... yes, no? I duno. haha. first time there only.. =P

oh. elena was there to take photo for us. That's my groupmate for 2 assignments. haha. All photos taken using 2 different model of Samsung phone which I don't know what model they are.

And that day, my sis told me there's rainbow so I grabbed my camera and try shooting it but somehow failed... I duno how to shoot rainbow and I stood on one position only. hehe. My mom told me there was 2 rainbows but I did not see it so don't have a shot of it lor. Kinz captured one though.

Sungai Congkak Outing

The next day after shooting fireworks at Putrajaya, I went for an outing by Sony with other Alphanatics members to Sg. Congkak for shooting. It was quite an tiring day because I had only a few hours of sleep as we had to gather at Mid Valley around 7.30am.

As I was browsing through the folder, I am not satisfied with the photos I took that time which I was really proud of it then... Hmm... Maybe I've improved? LOL... well anyway, I only have a few photos to post including those I have posted before last time. Enjoy.

The 3 days convention by Sony ended yesterday. It was really good seriously. We had free lunch buffet, freebies, models and bikes to shoot, talks from various speakers who are quite great photographers. Most importantly, A900 was launched and Sony lenses has new pricing now. Price has dropped quite a lot. well.. not much difference for me as a student as I still can't afford them anyway. haha. anyway, quoted from David's blog, Sony really knows how to make man happy. hahaha

My α Journey: Road to Convention

In this post, I am going to post on where my camera have been with me all this while since I bought my a300.

Of course, it has always been at home with me.

Then I brought it to Singapore but unfortunately, we managed to see only the Merlion's ass.

Besides that, my camera was blessed too. =D

It gets to go bermakan-makan with me also.

It has seen fireworks at putrajaya, view of pd, Lake Gardens and also chicks in Sunway. =P

Lastly, it has been to one Sony Alpha Basic Course and one outing at Sg. Congkak.

My α Journey: Faces

Another fun thing I love to do with my Alpha is capturing the expression of people I come about.

There are many different expressions which people(from the young to the old) show and usually we will forget the next day or probably in few hours.

With my Alpha, I am able to capture them (with luck of course sometimes) and get to browse them through once in a while when I'm bored. It's quite fun actually. haha. It makes you think back what happened during that moment.

My α Journey: Boring... what to do?

I'm a person who can get bored quite fast. Even during photo shooting session.. yes... seriously.. sometimes after shooting for few hours or so, I'll start getting bored with the area already. So, what else can I do and to make use of my alpha? hehe.

Unfortunately I do not have any nice jumping shot of me. so yeah.

Both my sisters had fun jumping. haha.

This kind of workshop and outings are good especially for ~~noob~~ beginners like me. I get to meet people who loves photography and most importantly we get to learn from one and another.. This is one of the main reasons I love Sony Alpha. =D

My α Journey: How it started...

Approximately one and a half year ago, I've been looking at great photos on blogs which I started getting interested into photography. Then I started looking at various cameras and reading on reviews by people. Unfortunately, being a student, I have no income at all and also my habit of not saving money...

Until 2 months ago being poisoned by Yong Hua, a friend of mine since high school. I got myself this..

tadaa... Sony A300 Single kitlens.

Got it from a digital fair at Mid Valley and one of the reason I got it is because of the salesman. The others were quite unfriendly I would say.

So... How did I manage to buy this baby?

Thanks to my mom who was willing to sponsor me half of the price of it. hehe. I also manage to persuade her because of a trip to Borubodur at Indonesia which was then cancelled for some reason.

So yeah. It's sad to miss that trip but I was lucky to get this baby. If not for it, my life would not be the same. as in. I might be doing something else instead of learning photography.

yes yes. this is another outdated post. hehe. anyway went to Putrajaya for MIFC grand finale. well. not really a grand finale. It's the last performance for the MIFC and performed by Australia. correct me if my understanding of the word grand finale is wrong.

ahh back to topic.. went with the following people.

Elena, Alex, May Yee and Raymond who drove us there. =D banyak banyak terima kasih.

If it wasn't for Raymond, I would not have tried shooting fireworks till now. =P

Thanks Alex for bringing us around the Intelligent City although we had a horrible dinner at some place there and we ended up at Secret Recipe for 2nd round. =P

Alex was telling them something about May Yee's digital camera function and she was like 'oooohhhhh' while Raymond was listening to him and enjoying his cake.

2 new stuffs

Bought myself another 2 new stuff related to my camera. It's more of me needing them than me wanting them.

I needed a new bag because of a new lens which I bought yesterday. My previous bag was so small that it did not have any more space for the lens. Went low yat on friday and I could only find this bag in one shop at lowyat. damn hard to bargain for it man. My friend, Janet kept calling him leng chai and finally he willing to give me another rm5 discount. swt...

My new Bagman. Apparently bagman has sold this design to canon which explains why I could only find it in one shop at lowyat.

I needed a zoom lens because sometimes sitting close with the crowd in the temple may be very difficult to take photos due to the shutter sound (it's very quiet when a master is giving teaching). so.. now with this zoom lens, I can stand further a little bit.

55-200mm. Bought it from an alphanatic who used it for only 2 months. This is the cheapest zoom lens I could get. Buying a new one from any brand can easily cost me twice the price so I faster grab this one lor.

Ohh.. Attended the basic workshop with alpha yesterday and this is the photo I submitted for our photo competition. Was very tired and cannot think of any idea on what to shoot so just cin cai only la for the sake of submitting one photo. haha..

Sorry la got no bikini photos for you to see although it was a Sloggi event. haha ! The main reason is that I pai seh to ask permission from them to take photo lor. wait I got money I buy the lens can zoom far far one then only I take those shots k? hehe. Besides that, damn many photographers there with media tag there.. then me being nobody lagi pai seh to take.

Anyway, had a few shots of some kids instead. There were some sort of family day going on there also I guess. So yeah.

Part 1

Another outdated post here. haha.

Last month, a friend of mine, Wai Kuan called me up and ask me if I wanna go for Sloggi event at Sunway Lagoon as she was working as one of the event people there. so yeah. Then, I called up some friends to go along and some ffk-ed.. hmmm...

Anyway first 1000 people who entered will be able to get free goodies bag.. Guess what is one of the items inside? Well.. should not be a problem for you to guess gua since the event is by Sloggi...

After that, went in to Sunway Lagoon lor.. This event was quite strict. A guy has to be accompanied by a girl to be entitled to enter.. well well.. I wonder why....

While shooting, one of the person in charge were saying no photography allowed I think. okkk... they only allow people with media pass to shoot.. so me being ~~obedient~~ noob walked away while the rest just continue shooting. After that we just walked around and me being bored took picture of the mushroom thingy in for fun.

This is just to promote tilted lcd screen to people who are shy to lie down on the ground to take photo like me. =D

Last weekend was Matta Fair, Steven and I worked as ice-cream boys selling Nestle Ice Cream at PWTC. We worked at the different booth. My area was more happening as those digital camera sales people (oh.. they had digital fair there too) were busy clearing the stocks. Macam market... Nevertheless, it was another great experience to work in a different environment.

Yesterday I went to Kelana Jaya Giant for COD with a guy name dinodino from photomalaysia.com and I shall present you the first lens I bought since I bought my camera.

KM 50mm f 1.7- not sure how old is this lens though. It could be more than 10 years. =P

er.. from the sengeted-top view.

inilah dinodino. He is quite a reputable seller and has many 2nd hand lens for Sony Alphas.

Got Yong Hua to teman me. He bought his 50mm from this same guy also.

ahhhh.. the bokeh...

Trip to Poison Ewin's house

ahhh. Don't know wat title to put for this post so decided to put that quite lame title.

Anyway 2 weeks ago, went to Yong Hua's house to pinjam his blower to clean clean my camera. His blower needs tongkat ali. still got some stubborn dust in my camera sensor.. but then still managed to clean away some dust la. hehe

His not-so-powerful-blower. XD

After that, tried his 50mm and I might be getting one tomorrow ! weeheee.

One of his yoyos. he got damn MANY yoyos like seriously. was shocked to see so many cuz I din expect he has that amount of yoyos. haha.

Then he played with his flash for that kind of effect with the dark dark background.

Ahhh... Lastly, a shot of my camera..

That's all. Class at 12pm tomorrow but have to wake up early to register for sony convention. Alphanatics have been increasing so have to kiasu abit to get myself registered for the event. hehe.

Singapore Day 3

Finally completing this outdated blog. It has been a month since I've been to Singapore. Times flies really fast hor?

Anyway, something about today first.. Went to class at 8 in the morning and weather was cooling. Imagine how a person will look under that kind of situation.. Feel sleepy lor.. and yet.... For the first lecture for this subject called 'Accounting in career context', the lecturer asked us to write an essay at around 800-1000 words on 'Why do you want to be an accountant?' so yeah. How many people have actually thought of that question? lol.... had hard time squeezing my brain recalling back from Form 5 on why did I make this decision to study Accounting & Finance. I think I managed to write about 800 words la anyway. hehe..

ok back to topic.. Our bus back to KL was in the late afternoon which I can't remember what time it was... so basically we spent our day at vivo city(the bus station was next to the mall) while waiting for time to pass. Met up with Janet's friend su ann there and they pergi shopping shopping lor.

After shopping, we still have a few more hours to chill around. quite sien actually cause I was really tired already. Then we went to starbucks sit down chit chat and stone.. As William ~~entertained~~ crapped to us with all his loyalty to Janet and stuff, time passed really fast. haha ! Damn funny ok.. and Janet was quite irritated with all his craps.. =D so yeah that's it.. and off we came back to KL.

Let me introduce to you some of my other family member who/which have been staying with us eversince we moved in I think..

The Bats !

No, it's not our pet, they just come and dirtied the wall with their fruits and you-know-what.

I don't know why but somehow many birds also fly to my garden and some are really nice birds. not those brown bird you see outside. Hopefully 1 day I get lucky and see any of those again and shall shoot them with my camera. hehe.

So yeah, anyway classes will start tomorrow... There are some subject changes whcih ended up that we have to do all the optional subjects in our year 2 which meanss.... those who did Business Taxation last sem have to do Business Information System this sem and vice versa which I think is GREAT ! that's because last sem I actually hoped that I can do both. hehe. =P tapi... some people dislike the change of the system.

oh ! and MU manage to get Berbatov. Yay ! I hope. Actually this morning I thought Man City got him already. When I looked at soccernet, i read the news that Robinho was signed by Tottenham and at first I thought this Abu Dhabi United Group is really so damn rich to get both. Anyway the memang rich la. That new Man City owner claimed he is the new Abramovich. (haih. EPL is now all about money. sad..) As I read only I notice that they actually sold Berbatov to MU already after all the hoo-has...

Had a wonderful learning experience in photography yesterday and today. Went to putrajaya for MIFC. It was my first time shooting fireworks (duh!) so I'd say the results turned out ok la only. Howevere, it was a fun experience shooting fireworks. Would love to go there again and repair my mistakes. hehe. Show one photo only la ok? hehe

The plain black sky will be filled with some lights in some post later.

Then, reached home at around 1am after makan makan and slept at approx 3am after bathing and uploading photos into the computer. Then.... woke up at 5 and gathered with Alphanatics at mid valley and off we went to Sungai Congkak. Below was the 3 noob shot I submitted. I feel I still have a lot to learn and shoot for improvement. hmm.. so yeah. hehe

It wasn't meant to be like that at first. Did not even notice the heart shape there haha. But the instructor rotated it then mai got a not so perfect heart shape there lu. hehe

There were 2 winners and they walked away with a camera pouch each. The prize in the previous outing to Malacca was better. Sony 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 lens ! siaoness.

Singapore day 2

ok here's quite an outdated post.

Been quite busy and stuff but now quite free already cause I've stopped working. woohoo... got more time to spend more on photography already I hope. hehe. anyway, Eng Loon and I decided to ffk Yong Hua for his Yoyo competition. hehe. Anyway he won. Congrats to him..

So yeah. Day 2 in Singapore.

Woke up at around 10 or 11 if I'm not mistaken, then had brunch at a nearby hawker and off we went to Bugis street which is similar to our Petaling Street here..

They prefer mastercard? not cash? =P

While the girls pergi jalan jalan, William and I went for the mini fish spa there for fun.

After that, we went to St James Power Station to know more about the Tiger Beer history and how it started in Singapore etc... That place was quite interesting and they showed us the history mostly through video clips. not very boring though. you know lah.. Singapore dramas/movies also quite funny kan?

We passed by Vivo City on our way there. Quite a big mall..

That must be the reason their Tiger beer tasted good for me and it's smoother than any other Tiger beer. Serious !

Lepas minum Tiger beer, we went to Clarke Quay because I wanna go there to shoot the Merlion. After such a long journey there, we found out that they were gonna have their rehearsal of the fireworks display. Damn rich la they all. fireworks for national day also need rehearsal one.. that's why I only manage to get the backside of the lion lor which was shown in one of the previous posts.

That was the sentence Yong Hua told me when I asked him why my photos have those bubble thingy. damn mean right he. haha. jk. would like to thank him la for layaning all my questions. anyway, ishh. duno how or when or where did the dust went in. ish. my camera sensor needs ~~mandi~~ cleaning already. probably will do it tomorrow after I get a blower.

Anyway, during my trip to Singapore 3 weeks ago I think, we were quite fortunate I would say to be there to witness their rehearsal for their national day which falls on the 9th of August (if I'm not mistaken, anyway over already la).

So yeah. When we were walking around Clarke Quay, we heard the noise of jetplanes. First, I thought it was their NS (or whatever they call it in Singapore) training thingy. Until I saw this..

It was actually doing a Love shape on the sky, so I thought some crazy guy with the brilliant idea was proposing to his girlfriend or something. Then after a few minutes or so, there were more jetplanes doing making don't know what thing la on the sky. Then again, I thought it was their training thingy again. haha.. I only found out it was their rehearsal for the national day later by someone. I only manage to capture some photos of the jetplane rehearsal thingy..

Singapore Trip Day 1

So so... Here is my Singapore trip post. well. have been working AGAIN after the trip cause now I wanna buy psp. heheheh... next time only work and save again for other camera accessories la. =D

Anyway, last friday, Janet, William, Elena and I went to Singapore for ermm... holiday? The next time if I were to go to Singapore again. I will make sure I have at least 500 SGD to enjoy to the fullest I guess. I had only 220 SGD for 3 days. Hotel is expensive. We stayed at Hotel Hamilton which is only a budget hotel but cost us like 70SGD=RM168 per person (Rate at RM 2.4 per SGD) for 2 nights. well well. I guess I should stop converting everything there into MYR. haha.

I would say the transportation there is very the extremely convenient that I wished I was brought up in Singapore so I can always go out anywhere I like without worrying about the transportation and the best thing about their taxi is that ALL taxis whether it's a old looking ones to a Mercedes Benz, it's all charged at the same rate except for the starting meter rate thingy is more expensive by few cents. so my advice is... try to get into a Mercedes Benz. hehe.

ok enough of talking. now let the picture do the talking on what we did on our arrival day.

Overall, first day was quite good although a bit of rushing and tiring due to the lack of time. Clubs in Singapore is good for non-smokers in the sense that smokers has to smoke in one area somewhere behind the club which is quite sad la I guess (cause I don't smoke). =D That's quite a big difference compared to clubs in KL. haha.

Anyway, time for bed. Ciaoz people.

Hi all !

Yes. I'm back ber-blogging. ok I have a dead blog here.. =D

you may ask why. very simple. the answer is simply. It's because I bought a Sony DSLR A300 last saturday. hehe... Hong Heng, you should faster buy one too so you can update your blog and with your photos and not Gordon Ramsay's (Is the name correct?) posing. XD

so.... now I can post nice nice photos. erm. I mean after I mastered the skill of photography la. haha. now am still a noob and learning from step 0.
